Soberania National Park

One of the most famous national parks in the world is located in Panama – Soberania. On an area of about three hundred square kilometers there is a unique protected area with almost no signs of human presence. This is generally recognized as the best place in the world for bird watching.

There is no room for ornithology lovers here. There are about a thousand species of birds on the territory of the reserve. Some are found only in Panama and are on the verge of extinction. Only here you can meet the Guiana harpy and the sun egret. For the convenience of bird watching, an old radar unit is used, from which you can see rare birds in their natural habitat through binoculars.

The partially cultivated rainforests are ideal for hiking. The local nature is very diverse, but especially striking are thickets of cottonwood trees, which sometimes exceed 60 meters in height. Hikers move around the park on their own, armed with a map and beacon. There are convenient campsites and fishing spots along some of the trails.
